Welcome
Stout-Hearted Hounds is the kennel name for our wonderful group of dogs. We do not have a "kennel" per se, all of our dogs are in-home companions and family members first and foremost. However, in addition to being much loved pets, our dogs enjoy participating in various canine athletic sports as well as occasional conformation showing. Team Stout-Hearted currently consists of two Greyhounds, two Rat Terriers, two Magyar Agars and one Dachshund.
Our kennel name derives from the title of a song called "Stout-Hearted Men" written by Sigmund Romberg and made famous by Nelson Eddy in the film "New Moon" (1940). In addition to dogs we are avid operetta fans and we feel that this song conjures up all of the wonderful and spirited qualities of our four-legged family.
At the moment, we and our dogs are active participants in amateur sighthound and terrier races, open field coursing, field trialing and weight pulling. We also enjoy a bit of conformation showing, earthdog, and animal-assisted therapy once and awhile, but our true passion is running sports! Thank you for visiting and we hope you enjoy your stay!
