Leeroy Jenkins (or just Leeroy for short) is a miniature Longhaired Dachshund (aka Langhaar Zwergteckel) that came to us via an ad that was posted Craigslist. He was not doing well in his previous home and the owner had decided to give him up. Since coming to live at Stout-Hearted Hounds he has made himself right at home and has carved out a special spot for himself within the pack.

In December of '09 Leeroy began his field trial career. In his very first trial he showed great promise with his strong work ethic and enthusiasm, but his lack of experience held him back. After a little bit more training he entered his second field trial in March of 2010 and boy did he improve! Leeroy amazed us all with a first place finish in the Open All Age Dog stake! We are very proud of him and hope to continue working towards his Field Championship.

Even when he's not field trialing, Leeroy loves nothing more than to pick up a scent and follow his nose. With a never-ending supply of cats, squirrels, mice and other critters roaming around the yard it's not hard for him to find something to track.

Also in March of 2010 was Leeroy's debut on the race track. In his first weekend of UKC Terrier Racing Leeroy took home his first points by splitting wins with his buddy, Bandit, in the Dachshund division. He finished his United Flat Racer title in style at the Rat Terrier National Specialty in Modesto, CA.

In addition to his exploits on the terrier racing track, Leeroy has had a great time running the long distance sprints in the All K9 division at our local LGRA meets and ABLSA sprint racing meets. Although not as speedy as his buddy, Bandit, Leeroy is definitely not lacking in determination and will to get that bunny!

When he's not busy field trialing, racing or showing, Leeroy's favorite thing to do is explore the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than going for long walks, poking through bushes, digging up a gopher hole or two or just lounging out in the grass on a sunny day. Leeroy has never met a stranger and easily makes friends with other dogs of all sizes and types. When in the house he is a typical comfort hound and loves to curl up on the couch or his favorite dog bed for a long snooze.
