Humer is the "wild child" of our team, having changed hands a number of times before he finally made it to us. We think he was born somewhere in the midwest, but as soon as he was of age he was sent to a race track in Pensacola, Florida. Based on the limited information available from the NGA, it looks like Humer was a promising young racer, but his career was cut short when a hurricane swept through the area and forced the tracks to evacuate the dogs into the hands of local adoption groups. Due to the large number of dogs needing homes, Humer and some of his kennel mates were transported out to California. He was adopted but returned a year later for reasons that are unclear; then ended up coming to live with us when we came looking for a companion for Cali. At long last he has found his home with us.

Humer began his second racing career on the LGRA straight track, but his real forte was the oval. Although not a meet winner by any means, Humer has consistently finished in the top half against many outstanding NOTRA dogs, which we are very proud of considering his late start in the sport and his advancing age. Humer has since reached retirement age, but his heart will always belong to the thrill of the chase. It has been a great joy for us to watch him do what he loves best.

In his free time, Humer is a true comfort hound. He is a connoisseur of soft pillows and peanut butter, and takes any opportunity to cuddle up with you on the couch. When he does get a case of the crazies he and Gil have a grand old time using the yard as a miniature race course. His energy doesn't last long though, and as soon as he's tired he comes right back in for a nap.
